Interdisciplinary Child Development Centre (ICDC)
The Interdisciplinary Child Development Centre (ICDC) in Couva was established as a pilot project of the Ministry of Health to mark the International Year of the Child, 1979. This is a government-funded pre-school facility that serves the underprivileged ‘at risk’ children in the Couva area and environs.
Services provided:
EDUCATIONAL
- ECCE Nursery
- Provides ECCE stimulation for 3-5 year olds daily.
NUTRITION
- Provides meals inclusive of breakfast, lunch and snacks for children.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT
- Provides a range of development services and early childhood stimulation for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers
PARENTING
- Provides a limited amount of workshop activities for parents as it relates to their children’s development.
PUBLIC / COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & COLLABORATION
- Facilitates wider public service and community involvement, such as volunteerism, working with UWI, UTT and OJT personnel in caring for children.
Who Qualifies?
- Vulnerable families faced with parenting issues and issues related to
- providing for their families
- Persons faced with challenges, including nutritional deprivation etc.
- Single parent or guardian, households, especially in cases where guardians are grand-parents with over five children under twelve years of age.
- Documentation for Eligibility
- Completed application form (preferably in person);
- Birth Certificate and /or Affidavit
- I.D. Card
