Minister Mohit receives Courtesy Calls from Diplomatic Missions in Trinidad and Tobago

The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services, has reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working collaboratively with diplomatic missions based in Trinidad and Tobago.

This commitment was highlighted as Minister Mohit welcomed courtesy calls from several dignitaries, including Ms. Jenifer Neidhart de Ortiz, Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy. During their meeting, Ms. Neidhart de Ortiz expressed the Embassy’s interest in partnering with the Ministry on key social issues.

Minister Mohit later received His Excellency Jon Mark Dean, British High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, where she further outlined the importance of international partnerships in bringing much needed assistance to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister Mohit indicated that the empowerment of women is a key area that the Ministry is placing focus on. She related that as the Gender and Child Affairs Unit now falls under this Ministry it is integral that much of the Ministry’s efforts go towards these vulnerable groups.  This was welcomed by the High Commissioner who indicated that the British Government has interest in gender empowerment and inclusion.
